On November 30th, the "2025 Innovative Leading Engineering Master’s and Doctoral Forum – Smart Traction, Driving the Future: Innovation in High-Speed Railway Traction Power Supply Systems and Cultivation of Outstanding Engineering Talents Forum," organized by the Graduate School and the National Institute for Outstanding Engineers of Southwest Jiaotong University, and hosted by the School of Electrical Engineering, was successfully held in Lecture Hall No. 2 of the Library at Xipu Campus.

The forum focused on the national strategies of "Building a Leading Transportation Nation" and "Dual Carbon" (Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality Goals), bringing together top experts from leading industry enterprises such as CRRC, China State Railway Group, and State Grid. Participants jointly explored pathways for the intelligent upgrade of high-speed railway traction power supply systems, aiming to break down barriers between academia and industry and jointly build a new high ground for cultivating outstanding engineering talents. Leaders present at the forum included Mr. ZHU Zhiwu, Party Secretary of the National Institute for Outstanding Engineers; Mr. HUA Baoyu, Vice Dean of the Graduate School; Ms. YU Xia, Director of the General Affairs Office of the National Institute for Outstanding Engineers; Mr. WANG Bin, Party Secretary of the School of Electrical Engineering; and Prof. LIU Zhigang, Vice Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering.

The forum was chaired by LIU Zhigang, Vice Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering. During the keynote report session, six leading industry experts focused on the core topic of "Smart Traction," delivering forward-looking technical presentations from two dimensions: "Green Synergy and New Systems" and "Intelligent Construction and Data Empowerment".

Different from previous purely academic reports, this forum specially established an "On-the-job Engineering Doctoral Candidates Special Session."

During the interactive session in the morning, the atmosphere was enthusiastic. Participating master's and doctoral students in engineering showed an extremely high thirst for knowledge, actively raising their hands to ask questions.

The successful holding of this forum is a concrete practice by the School of Electrical Engineering to implement the integrated strategy of "education, science and technology, and talent".
